Finally catching up with all the movies I've seen. I saw WALL-E last week and this past weekend I saw Journey to the Center of the Earth and Hellboy 2.
WALL-EIts a Pixar movie. That in itself should say it all. Me and just about everyone who's seen this movie loves WALL-E. Its up there with the Incredibles and Finding Nemo, both of which I consider their best shows to date.
My only criticism is that I think Kung Fu Panda actually trumps WALL-E. and that's not exactly a criticism, only that if WALL-E is a 5/5, then Kung Fu Panda is a 5.5/5 :) Both amazing animations and a must buy when the DVD's come out.
No surprise, I give it a 5/5
Journey to the Center of the EarthI like Brendan Fraser and I can't wait for The Mummy 3. I also loved the original "Journey to the Center of the Earth" movie and book. But this show missed the mark on so many areas.
I know its supposed to be "kid-friendly" but the plot line was weak, making Brendan into a "geek" was plain dumb. He will never pass for a geek and it didn't fit into his character. Also, some things were just unbelivable. They were stuck in the center of the earth and the temp was over 100 degrees and yet none of them had any sweat on them.
The only bright side to the movie is that Brendan's and Josh Hutcherson's acting saved the movie from being a total wreck.
Over all the best I can say is that this is a DVD rental. I give this a 3/5.
Hellboy 2: The Golden ArmyAhhhh... I've saved the best for last. They FINALLY made a Hellboy 2, if you've not seen the original Hellboy, I highly recommend it. And Hellboy 2 is one of those few sequals that surpasses the original. All the original characters are back and there are a few more fun characters thrown in for more fun.
Also the director Guillermo del Toro was the director for
Pan's Labyrinth. So be assured that there are wierd creatures galore in this movie.
Oh and I did have one major gripe with the show, David Hyde Pierce voiced the original Abe, but this time it was some British sounding guy. I'm sorry but David Hyde Pierce's voice is very distinctive and fit Abe perfectly. I spent about 30+ mins fuming about this which did distract from my enjoyment of the show.
Finally, I discovered a new actor to watch for. Luke Goss is spectacular as the evil "mis-understood" Elf Prince.
This one rates a 5/5.
