Green Porno

Its not what you're thinking. The Sundance Channel has released a series of short clips starring Isabella Rossellini dressed in different buggy garb, and acting out the mating rituals of buggy beings -- the bee, the dragonfly, the earthworm, the firefly, the house fly, the preying mantis, and the spider.

Its sooo fun to watch! and educational too. I highly recommend watching these clips with your kids. Below are a few promos on youtube. To watch the actual clips, go to Sundance Channel and watch them.

don't miss the Spider and Praying Mantis, those are my faves.

Movie Review: Ironman

OK, its no surprise that I'm a comic book geek and love superheroes. But truth be told, Ironman is not one of my favorite superheroes and while I admit that Robert Downey Jr can act, his druggie habits turn me off (ie. I'm not a Downey fan).

But I still went to watch Ironman because of all the positive reviews I've heard about. And I LOVE IT!!! This is hands down the best Superhero Origin movie that I've seen. In some respects I would even say that its better than "The Dark Knight" (aka Batman). But only because The Dark Knight is so dark and serious, while Ironman is simply rip roaring fun! You'll laugh through out the show while going Ohhhh and Ahhhh as he becomes Ironman.

Now if you're not a superhero movie person and are forced to watch a superhero movie, this would be the one to watch. Its not too geeky, its funny, it has a good plot and I hate to say it but the acting is very good.

I give Ironman a 5/5.

A moment of Silence

“He was a gamer’s gamer, an icon of a time of wonder and imagination.” — Tracy Hickman (”Dragonlance”)

The Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) co-creator and legengary gaming pioneer E. (Ernest) Gary Gygax has died at the age of 69 from complications arising from past multiple strokes.

A gamer all his life, Gygax started out like most kids playing strategy games such as chess and the card game pinochle, as well as others. His love for games found a different outlet in the late 1950’s with miniature war games like “Gettysburg.” His fascination grew to the point where gaming for him became an art form and then he found and fell in love with science fiction. Thus was born his lifelong quest to develop some of the best genre-related gaming in the industry.

In 1966, along with partners Bill Speer and Scott Duncan, he founded the IFW ( International Federation of Wargamers), an organization that served as an umbrella for various wargaming clubs around the country. This grew into publishing its own magazine on gaming, one of the first of its kind.

Gygax helped to organize the first Gen CON gaming convention 41 years ago out of his basement. It is now one of the largest CONs in the world hosting events all over the globe. His skills as an organizer and game developer continued to grow until one day in the early 1970’s he and Dave Arneson created a tabletop fantasy role-playing game called “Dungeons and Dragons” (D&D), and the rest, as they say, is history. A variation of one of Gygax’s previous games called “Chainmail” and the sparsing together all that he knew about older war games, D&D became the fastest growing and selling RPG of its time, and it also sparked a ton of controversy from various religious groups in America, making the game even more appealing to its demographic of young, independent-minded gamers.

It is safe to say the E. Gary Gygax literally changed the face of the gaming world with D&D, and at a time when board RPG’s were just finding their place in the computer-generated universe, D&D was the perfect fit and acted as the gaming world’s Magellen and Christopher Columbus — opening up vast new worlds and opportunities for the fast growing gaming industry and their marriage to the virtual world of computing.

Even to this day D&D is still the best-known role-playing game, with well over 30 million people having played the game and more than $1+ billion (USD) in games, books and equipment sales worldwide.

Its no secret that I'm a D&D gamer. This man literally created a game that has influenced and permeated my entire life and the lives of millions of other Fantasy gamers. Although the fate of fantasy has greatly changed since he first created Dungeons and Dragons, it was the driving force for movies, books, computer games, comics, and all such media which consume our current lives.

I had the great pleasue of meeting Mr. Gygax at Gen con 1997. He was Dm'ing a game of Dangerous Journeys, a new game system that he had created. And I hope that when I reach the age of 60, I'll still be as excited as he was to be a gamer. For truly, imagination knows no age.

Holy Fuck! - Heath Ledger is dead

This is really news breaking for those plugged into entertainment news. I think this is going to dominate entertainment news and blogosphere for the next 24-48 hours.

Breaking news from the New York Times is that Heath Ledger was found dead in his hotel room.

Heath Ledger was a very widely acclaimed actor and just finished filming the long anticipated role of joker in 2008's upcoming Batman 2 - The Dark Knight. I have to admit I'm shocked, he's only 29 years old and recently married and had a baby girl. Tentative news is that its a suicide, which is another shock as he seemed "stable". Guess you just can't tell nowadays.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles

Just saw the first 2 episodes of The Sarah Connor Chronicles. This show is AWESOME!!! The story picks up mostly after the movie Terminator 2 and John is 15 years old.

*** Spoilers ***

The writing so far is top notch! I won't give out too many spoilers but as you can see from the picture below, they did some Time Travel. Summer Glau is the new Terminator, (the good one) and she rocks, you might remember her from Firefly. I also like the new John Connor (Thomas Dekker) and I don't hate the new Sarah Connor (Lena Headey).

My only concern is where the storyline will be going, but so far its good. Basically, they thought Skynet was destroyed but then a new Terminator is sent to kill John. They decide to travel from 1999 to 2007 to find the roots of the new Skynet and prevent the coming destruction of the world in 2011.

The show might be about 10 years late but I like what I've seen so far and I'm hooked. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is a must watch for all Terminator and Sci Fi fans out there.

Rowling Outs the Headmaster of Hogwarts

Wow! J. K. Rowlings while on a book tour just dropped this bomb. (Source: MTV, AP)
Rowling told the audience that Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore was gay and had fallen in love with fellow wizard and erstwhile friend, Gellert Grindelwald, according to the Associated Press and Potter fan site the Leaky Caudron. The crowd cheered, leading Rowling to say:

"If I had known this would have made you this happy, I would have told you years ago."

The answer came in response to the question of whether Dumbledore had ever been in love. Rowling replied, "My truthful answer to you ... I always thought of Dumbledore as gay. ... Dumbledore fell in love with Grindelwald, and that added to his horror when Grindelwald showed himself to be what he was. To an extent, do we say it excused Dumbledore a little more? Because falling in love can blind us to an extent, but he met someone as brilliant as he was, and rather like Bellatrix he was very drawn to this brilliant person, and horribly, terribly let down by him. Yeah, that's how I always saw Dumbledore.

"In fact, recently I was in a script read-through for the sixth film, and they had Dumbledore saying a line to Harry early in the script, saying, 'I knew a girl once, whose hair ...' [the crowd laughed]. I had to write a little note in the margin and slide it along to the scriptwriter: 'Dumbledore's gay!' "

Noting the audience's enthusiasm, she added, "I had to give you something to talk about for the next 10 years. ... Just imagine the fan fiction now."

The fact is that there's no real reason this should be headline news, after all she's finish all 7 books and ended the series. But it does prove 1 thing. That our current world is wayyy too obsessed with popular fiction/culture.

Still I do thank Rowlings for her contribution to gay rights by reinforcing the idea that a person's gayness is not something of which they should be ashamed. And she's also earned herself very strong loyalty from this faithful reader.

The things Kids do

I have NEVER had the guts write some of the answers that these students did. Also, it never occurred to me to be a smart-ass. This also reinforces my opinion that Teachers are way underpaid.

Don't Treat your Employer better than they treat you

Came across this very interesting article on digg. Granted that I think the blogger was very very frustrated when writing this and so her views might be a little skewed, but to be honest, she's got very valid points. I've had my face plastered on the wall as Employee of the week many times and its considered a morale booster. Honestly, I cringe everytime I see my face up there and can't wait for the week to end so that another poor sap can get his mug on the board. I'd rather they gave me a $10 Ice Cream gift Voucher.

Here's the main excerpt of the article:
When you excel at your job, companies have a tendency to reward you with meaningless symbols of merit. Every company I have worked for has had some sort of employee recognition program set up. A job well done might earn you the title ‘Employee of the Month.’ You might get a plaque with your name on it. Or a pre-printed ‘Thank You’ letter from your boss. You might even earn the privilege of wearing a special pin or you may simply get a pat on the back.

You know who else is rewarded like this for good behavior? My 9 year old stepdaughter. After she completes a ballet class, she earns a pat on the head and a sticker for her jacket. This, of course, thrills her.

But it’s pretty fucking degrading if you’re a grown ass adult.

Face it, if your employer really respected you and valued the work that you did, he’d reward you with money. He’d cut you in on the profit. You’d get a slice of the pie.

He wouldn’t draw a little smiley face on a slip of paper and expect you to proudly display it on your refrigerator like you’re a 6 year old child.

They Demand a Two Weeks Notice Before You Quit

Yet, very rarely, do they give you notice before they fire you. Unless you work for a company that offers a severance package after terminating your employment, fuck them and their notice.

A lot of people give notice before they quit a job not out of respect for their employer, but because they fear their employer will give them a bad reference. Most of the time, this is a baseless fear. Large companies fear slander lawsuits too much and will refrain from saying anything bad about a past employee…no matter how much they hated him. Most places even make a policy out of confirming dates of employment and saying nothing else when asked for a reference. This is so common practice now that your new employer won’t even bother to ask your old employer what he thought of you because he knows damned well he’ll hit a brick wall.

If you like your employer and feel that the company treated you well, by all means, give them a bit of notice before you quit. Otherwise, fuck them. They would do the same thing to you, given half the chance.

Honestly, a lot of big companies could stand to review the Golden Rule and start applying it to how they treat their employees. If they are unwilling to treat the people who make them rich with an ounce of dignity or respect, then they have no right to get upset if we just turn our cars around one morning and go home.

The 50,000 calorie Sandwich

This is the story of 2 boys who made a huge big ass sandwich and proceeded to eat the whole then. Of course they had to document the whole thing.

You'll also notice that they didn't finish the whole sandwich in one sitting. Now THAT would have been really news worthy.

Welcome to F*cking, Austri

I'm not being crass or crude. It so happens that there's a little town in Austra called Fucking. (I kid you not)

Tourists are causing a lot of anxiety — and are costing money — to a tiny village where signs keep disappearing. What do the signs read? "Welcome to Fucking, Austria." Pronounced "fooking," the little hamlet of Fucking is named after the man who founded the village in the 6th century. His name? Focko. The town sign has been stolen seven times in the last few months. With signs costing several hundred dollars apiece, much of the tiny town’s budget is being spent replacing the signs, says Siegfried Hoeppel, the Mayor of Fucking. He went on to express his hope that further thefts will be avoided through the use of increased concrete and . . . bigger screws.

I love Digg, it keeps coming up with some very funny articles.

Those Crazy Japanese and their Roller Coasters

This is the Eejanaika Roller Coaster in Japan. Before you scoff and say that looks fairly tame, note that the seats have no ground, so you're legs are hanging, and the seats are fully independent of each other meaning it can and does turn 360 degrees, plus the ride goes backwards and partway thru, there are NO TRACKS beneath you, all you see is the open air.

Here's a video to show the ride. Hmmm.... best not let my niece see this. She's a bit of a hell raiser and daredevil, I can just see her wanting to go on this ride... with an adult of course.

A bite to eat

Found this very interesting hobby. Making miniature fast-food.

i know it's hard to tell from this shot, so I'll give you something for scale. . . .

The burger was a little over one inch tall and about an inch wide.

Here, we have the "money shot" of the burger with its many teeny layers

After taking all the pictures we cut the tiny burger in half and each ate half. It tasted awesome.

Our official entry is the burger, though the burger and fries together are still less than two inches.
Here are some shots of the preparation of our mini-meal. Everything was handmade, including the tiny buns.

I used a Splenda packet for scale, since it was two inches long. Check out the mini pickles, onions and tomato!

It only took a few seconds to cook.

Testing the tiny french fries.

Two batches later. . .

So. . .very. . .small.

I made the soda and tray out of polymer clay and my husband designed and printed the label and tray liner out of Craftster content

We had so much fun making this together. It was seriously challenging, right down to the sesame seeds.

So, from the two of us, we hope you enjoy our delicious entry. . . .I know we did!

Lindsey admids she's a skank!

OK this is perhaps among the WORST things Lindsey Lohan could have done. She gave a surprisingly frank interview to News of the World, talking about her battles with eating disorders, admitting to using drugs, and wanting to have sex with as many people as possible.
But while she has had a difficult relationship with food, there has never been anything wrong with Lindsay's sexual appetite.

The wild child has had a string of dalliances with celebs like John Lennon's son Sean, Bruce Willis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Colin Farrell, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jared Leto and Joaquin Phoenix.

She confesses: "Sex And The City changed everything for me because those girls would just sleep with so many people. And that's me. I'm not dating just one person.

"It is the variety of partners everyone likes, especially at my age. I'm like Angelina Jolie, taking on lovers. I don't need a steady relationship.
Yessiree. This interview is certainly going to improve her already sinking image. I loved Lindsey when she first appeared in the remake of The Parent Trap. But as she grew up, it became obvious that the mischievous cheeky little girl grew up into a spoilt, bratty, egomaniac. Her agent or publicist should be fired on the spot. You do not put a microphone in front of brainless bimbo's. publicist

Ironman .... bites the big one

This news just in from Darkhorizon and CNN.
Robert Downey Jr. is set to star in his first big-budget action movie - the comic book adaptation "Iron Man". Jon Favreau is directing the movie, which will be distributed by Paramount Pictures in May 2008 reports the trades.

Downey will portray Tony Stark, a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor who is kidnapped and forced to build a devastating weapon. Using his intelligence and ingenuity, Stark instead builds a high-tech suit of armor and escapes captivity.

Upon his return to the U.S., he uncovers a plot with global implications and must don his armor and protect the world. Principal photography is set to begin in February.

Let me be the first to predict that Ironman is going to be a flop. HUGE HUGE FLOP!!!! Robert Downey Jr has a TERRIBLE reputation despite being a good character actor. That and most people I know hate him.

To top it off I checked the director for this movie, Jon Favreau. You've probably seen him in numerous shows playing a sidekick or comic relief. He has very little experience directing, and zero experience on action movies.

As the title of this blog say... Ironman is going to bite the big one.
